All structures below the 522 elevation must be approved by Alabama Power. This includes construction of a seawall. Contact Alabama Power before closing on your Smith Lake property to insure your dock plans meet regulations and will be approved. You must have a minimum of 100 feet of waterfront to be eligible for a full size boat dock. In most cases Alabama Power will permit a 60 foot walkway to a boathouse of no more than 32 x 32 feet. If you have less than 100 feet of waterfront then Alabama Power may put additional restrictions on your boat house size.
